The Boboli Garden in Florence, in the Tuscany region of Italy, is a well-known garden. Located on the opposite bank of the Arno River from the Medici Palace, the Pitti family's palace served as a symbol of their power and rivalry.

The Medici family purchased the palace in 1550 and had extensive renovations done, including the addition of a courtyard designed by Bartolomeo Ammanati. They also constructed gardens that linked the Pitti Palace to the Belvedere Fortress. The side garden, which belongs to the 17th century, is older than the remainder of the garden.

Some of the earliest operas in history were performed in a theater with a grandstand in what was once a quarry in the Medici Gardens. The two most common ways are:
