The Casa Torre de Pazos Figueroa (also known as Pazos de Proben) is a historic building, part of an architectural ensemble that was built in the 16th century as an urban mansion, probably by a noble house resident in the small town of Vigo at the time. It was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1946 and was recently restored to house the Camões Institute.
It is part of a set of two buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries, the oldest preserved in Vigo. This complex has two parts, the first consists of a late Gothic style tower, called Casa Torre de Ceta y Arines and a Plateresque style house, Casa Torre de Pazos Figueroa.
The house has Plateresque decoration on the lintel and jambs of the central opening on the third floor, with two Renaissance coats of arms on each side and an inscription on the lintel. On the same floor there is an enormous balcony, richly decorated, and on the lower floor there are ogee arches, also decorated with Plateresque motifs and with a clear Portuguese influence in their mixilinear decoration. Finally, the cornice is decorated with gargoyles to relieve the water drainage system.
