Charles III adorned it during his rule, drawing inspiration from the comparable buildings he built when ruling Naples and Sicily, particularly the Royal Palace of Portici. The porcelain plates were held in place during assembly by frames. Juan Bautista de la Torre and Genaro Boltri were responsible for the decorative design, which was done in a late Baroque Classicist manner.

One of Gasparini's most exquisitely designed decorative features is the floor of this room. It is made up of a very fine inlay of colored marble, and in the winter, a woollen carpet mimics the patterns that the marble represents.
