It consists of an enclosure and access gate to the Casa Miralles, the work of the modernist architect Antoni Gaudí. It is located at number 55 Passeig Manuel Girona, and was commissioned in 1901 from Gaudí by the industrialist Hermenegildo Miralles.

Miralles owned a building accessories industry, specialising in wainscots and seats for pressed wood chairs, as well as a type of pressed cardboard tile. Gaudí had collaborated with him on several of his works, such as the smoker in the Casa Vicens and the decoration of the Bar Torino. He also experimented with Mr. Miralles' presses to calculate the strength of materials in several of his works, such as the Casa Milà.

For all these reasons, Miralles commissioned Gaudí to build his house on land he owned in Sarrià, which he had bought from Eusebi Güell, Gaudí's patron. The architect designed the fence wall and the gateway to the estate, but in the end he did not take charge of the house, which was built by his assistant, Domingo Sugrañes, who designed a project in the form of a Valencian hut. What Gaudí built reveals a certain Baroque influence, in parallel to the Casa Calvet that the architect had built shortly before.

Today, part of the wall has been preserved, which is undulating and made of white trencadís and topped by a wire mesh grille with spikes at the top, in the shape of a fishing net, as well as the door, made with a large lobed arch and crowned with the classic Gaudí three-dimensional wrought-iron cross. It also has a canopy to protect it from the rain, as well as a small gate with an original iron grille.

In 2000, the portal was restored and the sculpture A Antoni Gaudí, a life-size full-length portrait of the architect by the sculptor Joaquim Camps, was unveiled.

Curiously, this work is located just a few metres from the Güell Pavilions, also by Gaudí.
