The Convent of San Francisco is a complex made up of the minor basilica of the same name, the cloister and several adjoining buildings. Construction began at the end of the 13th century, and on 4 February 1881 the Gothic cloister of the convent was declared a National Monument.

Construction of the basilica began in 1281, and it took 100 years to complete the vault. The church was proclaimed a minor basilica on May 14, 1943, by Pope Pius XII.

The trapezoidal-shaped cloister next to the church forms a beautiful ensemble that was built between the 14th and 16th centuries. The fine columns and lobed arches are outstanding. The northern gallery is the oldest, the western gallery, attached to the church, and the southern gallery are of more recent construction (15th century). The upper galleries date from the 16th century.

The main altarpiece in the Baroque style, topped by an image of Saint George on horseback on a dragon, stands out. In one of the side chapels is the tomb of Ramon Llull with a recumbent statue of the same.
